- Holotype: AMNH 33807, adult ♂, skin and skull, collected by Arthur A. Allen and Leo E. Miller on 26 March 1912.
- Type locality: “Valle de las Papas (alt. 10,000 ft.), Central Andes, Huila, Colombia”.

- Holotype: BMNH 2.1.1.1, adult ♂, skin and skull, collected by Perry O. Simons on 8 May 1901.

- Holotype: AMNH 47219, adult ♂, skin and skull, collected by H.E. Anthony on 1 August 1920.
