Holotype: RMNH 28258. [Paratypes: BMNH 1981.1.16.116 (1); RMNH 28259-62 (1 ea.), 28264 (1), 28324 (1, partly dissected), 28388 (1)].
Type locality: West side of the Mwanza Gulf, between Nyamatala Island and Hippo Island, Lake Victoria [Victoria Nyanza], 9.5-13 meters.
