Type locality: China, Yunnan Province, Xichou County, Wenshan City, Panlong River (Red River drainage), 21°21'03.6"N, 104°36'47.1"E (?) acc. to Min et al. (2013), or more probably: .
Etymology: From the Latin dispar (= dissimilar), and zona (= band). Refers to the colour pattern unique in the genus Homatula.
