- Type locality: BRAZIL: Amazonas: Jutaí (Restinga do Cevalho, -2.731, -66.916, 528 m).
- Etymology: "Latinization of the English word “play”, which is used by the Brazilian opilionologist Adriano B. Kury, our friend and former tutor, in reference to anything he perceives to be extremely good. The name is to honor him for erecting Ampycinae."
