Holotype: MZSP 36891, ♀; M. A. Freitas, October 2009.
Type locality: Brazil, state of Bahia, São Desidério (12°28'52"S, 45°09'10"W), 724 m a.s.l.; under tree bark, 1 m above the ground, area of carrasco vegetation.
Etymology: The specific name is a patronym in honour of Marco Antonio de Freitas, a Brazilian zoologist and geographer who collected the holotype and some other aviculariine specimens.
