- Holotype: MLP.S 2612, an adult male, collected 19 January 2007.
- Type locality: Ruta Provincial 41,7 km S Caepe Malal, Chos Malal Department, Neuquén, Argentina (37°13’51.4”S, 70°22’24.3”W, 1037 m. elevation.
- Etymology: Named in honor of Karl Hermann Konrad Burmeister, a German naturalist, paleontologist and zoologist.
