- Holotype: NMSA, ♂, 28.i.1978 JGH Londt.
- Type locality: SOUTH AFRICA: Limpopo Province, 10 km N. of Potgietersrus.
- Etymology: Gr. diaphoros – different, refers to the fact that the species differs from natalensis.
