Name

Muiralevu Zelazny, 1981

Type species: Levu africana Muir, 1926, by original designation.

Synonyms

Type species: Levu quadramaculata Muir, 1915, by original designation.

Diagnosis

  • The forewings have 4 costal cells with a cross-vein between the bases of Ms1b (or Ms1) and Cu1 (these bases and the cross-vein are part of the basal median cell).
  • On the forewing the Ms1 branch is at the apex of the basal median cell or very close to it, with Ms1a usually forming a characteristic angle a short distance from that fork. At that point a cross-vein connects Ms1a to M forming a small rhomboid cell distad of the basal median cell.
  • The Sc+R fork on the forewings is located near the 1st costal sector.
  • On the hindwings the tip of R is usually branched.
  • The male pygofer often has prominent pointed lateral projections
