- Holotype: ZSI/SRC F 8755.
Type locality: River Dibru at Guijan Ghat, Tinsukia District, Assam, India (27.579N, 95.329E).
Etymology: The species is named after Andrew Arunava Rao, not only because he collected this species, but also in appreciation of his enthusiasm and support to ichthyology around the world.
