Holotype: NMNZ P.043689.

Type locality: Northwest edge of Mawson Bank, 71°55.80'S, 173°18.08'E, depth 1431-1658 meters.

Etymology: From the Latin plico (= fold), indicating the skin fold in front of the chin pore pair.
