Taxonomic note: Peronymus was treated as a distinct genus by Miller (1907), Thomas (1924), Sanborn (1937), Husson (1962, 1978), Linares (1986), Brosset & Charles-Dominique (1990), Corbet & Hill (1991); as a subgenus of Peropteryx by Honaki et al. (1982), Koopman (1982, 1984), Jones & Hood (1993), Koopman (1993, 1994), McKenna & Bell (1997), Simmons & Voss (1998), Simmons (2005: 389); or as a junior synonym of Peropteryx by Hood & Gardner (2008: 197) and Lim et al. (2010: 16).
