- Syntypes (9): USNM 164 (7 specimens), 1 adult ♂, 1 subadult ♂ and 5 adult ♀, USNM 165660, adult ♂, collected by Gen. Churchill and J.D. Graham; and UIMNH 40746, adult ♂, collected by J.H. Clark in May or June 1851.
- Type locality: “from the valley of the Rio Grande west of San Antonio ... and from between San Antonio and El Paso del Norte”.
