Holotype: UCR 15972, nearly complete skull, partly restored, with right and left tympanic bullae and periotics, right and left stapes, right incus, posterior ends of both dentaries, both humeri, right radius, possible sternal rib.
Type locality: UCR locality RV-6505 (Field Locality 11), in Unit 6, approximately 15 feet above the base of the Almejas Formation [in Baja California, Mexico].
Named after dr. Richard H. Tedford, who led the 1965 UCR expedition to Isla Cedros and helped collect the holotype.[1]
