Name
- Synodontis caudovittatus Boulenger, 1901
Lectotype: BMNH 1907.12.2.2360. Paralectotypes: BMNH 1907.12.2.2361 (1), 1907.12.2.2362 (1); MNHN 1907-0224 (1).
Type locality: Mouth of Lake No, White Nile River, Sudan.
Etymology: The specific name is a combination of the Latin cauda, meaning tail, and the Latin vitta, meaning stripe, alluding to the distinctive colouration of the tailfin.
