Trichomycterus brachykechenos Ferrer & Malabarba, 2013
- Holotype: MCN 18929.
- Paratypes: MCP 46949 (3); MCN 18930 (2), 18931 (2); MCP 46950 (1); UFRGS 16244 (1 c&s), 16245 (5, 1 c&s).
Type locality: Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul State, municipality of Caraá, rio do Sinos, 29º45’44"S, 50º19’39"W .
Etymology: The specific name is a combination from the Greek brachys (= short), and kechenos (= gap, opening), in reference to the short posterior cranial fontanel of the species.
