- Holotype: WAM P.34320-002.
- Paratypes: WAM P.34320-003 (2).
Type locality: Waga Waga, Papua New Guinea, outer hull of Muscoota, a World War II shipwreck, 10° 24.429’S, 150° 24.650’E, 24 m depth.
Etymology: The species is named nauagium (from the Greek nauagia: shipwreck) with reference to the type locality and only known habitat.
