ˮ
Tundra Nenets
Pronunciation
- (phoneme) IPA(key): /ʔ/
Letter
ˮ (transliteration needed)
- The thirty-sixth letter of the Tundra Nenets alphabet
Usage notes
Usually marks instances of the glottal stop /ʔ/ that either do not participate in any alternation, or alternate with the oral stop д /d/, in contrast with the letter ʼ. Often transcribed q in scholarly sources. In some words the letter is silent and is used to indicate word-final consonants that are not followed by an unwritten schwa.
