Etymology

Formal Perfect participle of λαμβάνομαι (lamvánomai), passive voice of λαμβάνω. In the fashion of the Hellenistic Koine Greek εἰλημμένος (“who has been admitted”), participle of the ancient λαμβάνω. The spelling with ει of its passive perfect tense εἴλημμαι (“I have received”) comes from *σέ‑σληβ‑μαι. Τhe double <μμ>, from ληβ- + μ > λημμ.[1] Also, Semantic loan from French pris.[2]
