Etymology
From Old Persian [script needed] (bāzu), from Proto-Iranian *bāĵus, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *bʰaHĵʰúš, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰeh₂ǵʰus. Cognate with Avestan 𐬠𐬁𐬰𐬎 (bāzu), Sanskrit बाहु (bāhu), Ancient Greek πήχυς (pḗkhus, “forearm”). Also akin to Old Armenian բազուկ (bazuk), an Iranian borrowing.
