Usage notes
This word is mostly used in the city of Saint Petersburg. In other parts of Russia, notably Moscow, the word for the front entrance of a building is подъезд (pod"jézd). In addition, some Petersburgers consider the substantivized feminine парадная (parádnaya) to be the correct form.
