Cognate with Crimean Tatar tabur (“battalion”), Chagatai [script needed] (tapkur, “fortification”), [script needed] (tabɣur, “belt, fence”).

Has also been compared to Old Armenian թափօր (tʿapʿōr, “religious procession”).
