Etymology
From the root ܢ-ܗ-ܪ (n-h-r). Compare Akkadian 𒀀𒇉 (nāru), Arabic نَهْر (nahr), Hebrew נָהָר (nāhār), and Ugaritic 𐎐𐎅𐎗 (nhr).
Usage notes
Usually, the plural ܢܗܪܐ (nahrē(ʾ)) is a paucal plural (from two to ten) while the plural ܢܗܪܘܬܐ (nahrawwāṯā(ʾ)) is a multiple plural (eleven or more).
