Etymology
From *raĉ- (“to bind, tie”), whence also Sanskrit रश्मन् (raśmán), रश्मि (raśmí). Cognate with Middle Persian lsn' (rasan), Persian رسن (rasan). Compare also Old Armenian առասան (aṙasan), an Iranian borrowing. See also रज्जु (rájju).
