Etymology
From Proto-Indo-Aryan *raśmíṣ, form Proto-Indo-Iranian *raĉmíš, from *raĉ- (“to bind, tie”), whence also Sanskrit रश्मन् (raśmán), रशना (raśanā́). Cognate with Middle Persian lsn' (rasan), Persian رسن (rasan). Compare also Old Armenian առասան (aṙasan), an Iranian borrowing.
