Etymology
From Khmer តម្រាស់ (tɑmrŏəh, “royal order; royal word”), an extended form of ត្រាស់ (trah), from Old Khmer trasa, trassa, trāsa, trãsa, trâsa, trāssa, trãssa (“to illuminate, to enlighten; to declare, to speak; etc”), from which Thai ตรัส (dtràt) was derived.
