อั้งยี่

From Teochew 紅字 (ang5 ri7, literally “scarlet letter”); after a Chinese secret society in Siam during the reign of Chulalongkorn (1868–1910).

   • 1908, กฎหมายลักษณะอาญา, Section 177:

     ผู้ใดเปนสมาชิกในสมาคมอันใดที่ปกปิดวิธีการของสมาคมแลเปนสมาคมที่ตั้งขึ้นเพื่อการอันมิชอบด้วยกฎหมาย ท่านว่า มันคือพวกอั้งยี่

     pûu dai bpen sà-maa-chík nai sà-maa-kom an dai tîi bpòk-bpìt wí-tii-gaan kɔ̌ɔng sà-maa-kom lɛɛ bpen sà-maa-kom tîi dtâng kʉ̂n pʉ̂ʉa gaan an mí-chɔ̂ɔp-dûuai-gòt-mǎai tân wâa man kʉʉ pûuak âng-yîi

     Any person who is a member of any association whose procedure is undisclosed and which is established for an unlawful purpose is said to be a member of a secret society.

     ผู้ใดเป็นสมาชิกของคณะบุคคลซึ่งปกปิดวิธีดำเนินการและมีความมุ่งหมายเพื่อการอันมิชอบด้วยกฎหมาย ผู้นั้นกระทำความผิดฐานเป็นอั้งยี่

     pûu dai bpen sà-maa-chík kɔ̌ɔng ká-ná-bùk-kon sʉ̂ng bpòk-bpìt wí-tii dam-nəən gaan lɛ́ mii kwaam-mûng-mǎai pʉ̂ʉa gaan an mí-chɔ̂ɔp-dûuai-gòt-mǎai pûu nán grà-tam kwaam-pìt tǎan bpen âng-yîi

     Any person who is a member of an entity whose methods of business are undisclosed and which is intended for an unlawful purpose thereby commits an offence of being a member of a secret society.
