Proto-Mongolic
Etymology
Perhaps segmentable into *üni + *-xen, the latter being an ending of a few other animal names.
Cognate with Khitan [Khitan Small needed] (uni, “ox”), and probably related somehow to Proto-Turkic *ingek, compare Turkish inek.
