From Proto-Balto-Slavic *-iškas, from Proto-Indo-European *-iskos. Akin to Latvian -isks, Lithuanian -iškas, Proto-Germanic *-iskaz, Latin -iscus, Ancient Greek -ισκος (-iskos).
