From Proto-Mon-Khmer *ɓaar (or some variant presented by Proto-Palaungic *lʔaar, Khasi ar, Central Nicobarese [Nancowry] âṅ; Shorto reconstructed Pre-Mon-Khmer *biʔaar). An /h/ appeared in a similar manner to hắn.
