From Old Occitan [Term?], from Latin cōnsōbrīnus, possibly through Vulgar Latin consobrinus primus > *cosob(r)inprimu > *cosuinprimu > *cosinprim > cosin[1]. Compare Occitan cosin, French cousin. See also Spanish primo.
