dikë
Albanian
Etymology
Unclear, a borrowing from Serbo-Croatian dika (“pride, glory”) has been proposed, but with semantic issues.[1] Alternatively from Proto-Albanian *dīkā. Cognate to Lithuanian dykas (“iddle, empty”), Proto-Slavic *dikъ 'wild'.
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): [diːk]
