Etymology
A blend of two forms going back to Proto-Germanic *draugiz, *drūgiz on one hand, and *druknaz on the other. The dialectal border between the two forms runs close to Luxembourg; compare for the former Ripuarian drüch, for the latter German trocken. Related also with Dutch droog, English dry.
