Etymology
From Ottoman Turkish پاشا (pāšā) (Turkish paşa); this either from Persian پادشاه (pādšāh, “padishah, king”),[1] or from Turkish baş (“head”),[2] or from Turkish beşe (“boy, prince”), this in turn from Persian بچّه (bačče).[3]
