Etymology
From Proto-Finnic *seekla, borrowing from Proto-Germanic *sēþla, compare Swedish såll, Icelandic sáld. Cognates include Estonian sõel, Karelian siekla, Ingrian seegla, Votic sigla.
Usage notes
A small kitchen sieve is normally called siivilä in Finnish. Seula associates with larger grain size.
