Newspaper Journalist
Watch Jill Tucker, Education Reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle, share how journalism met her two requirements for choosing a career: 1) she wanted to make a difference in the world, and 2) she wanted a job that would be fun. One the stories she is most proud of centered on homeless students in elementary school and how being homeless impacted their behavior and participation in the classroom. After reading her reporting, a couple donated $3 million for homeless families in San Francisco. She was grateful to be able to tell a child’s story and see the difference words can make. Jill advises girls to make their voices heard and tell the stories of people and issues that matter to them.
