Center for Science in the Public Interest
The Center for Science in the Public Interest is a consumer-advocacy organization focused on nutrition and health, food safety, and alcohol policy. The Alcohol Policies project works with many organizations and individuals to promote a comprehensive, prevention-oriented approach to the role of alcohol in society. Their activities have focused on alcohol advertising, excise taxes, changes in product labeling, and other population-based policy reforms to help reduce the negative health and social effects of drinking alcohol.

Fetal Alcohol and Drug Unit (FADU)
FADU is a research unit dedicated to the prevention, intervention and treatment of FASDs. FADU’s main goals are to conduct research on fetal alcohol and drug effects across the life span, to disseminate information, to provide consultation for persons of any age thought to be affected by prenatal exposure to alcohol, and to provide training in human behavioral teratology. This site has links to research projects and findings, a list of support groups worldwide, and a list of upcoming international FASD conferences, as well as other resources.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Center for Excellence
The FASD Center for Excellence is operated by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and serves as an information and resource center regarding FASDs. The website is designed to provide resources and information, to improve knowledge about FASDs, and to promote best practices. It also offers information to individuals, families, and communities affected by FASDs in an effort to improve quality of life. SAMHSA also has a Substance Abuse Treatment Facility Locator. This locator helps people find drug and alcohol treatment programs in their area.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Consultation, Education and Training Services (FASCETS)
Services available through FASCETS are designed to increase understanding, build on strengths, expand options for developing effective parenting and professional techniques, enhance existing programs and support the development of new programs. They provide information and resources.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Diagnostic and Prevention Network (FAS DPN)
FAS DPN is a network of five community-based clinics linked by the core clinic at the Center on Human Development and Disability at the University of Washington in Seattle. The mission of the FAS DPN is prevention of FAS through screening, diagnosis, intervention, training, education, and research.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Family Resource Institute (FAS FRI)
FAS FRI provides advocacy, support, and information to individuals and families living with FASDs.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome: Support, Training, Advocacy, and Resources (FASSTAR)
Training is available on all aspects of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, including community awareness, prevention, and intervention. FASSTAR has a unique workshop designed for teens and adults with FASDs and their mentors/caregivers to help maximize success in life.

March of Dimes (MOD)
MOD works to assure that babies are born healthy. Through research, outreach, education, and advocacy, MOD addresses issues such as prematurity, low birth weight, and birth defects. MOD provides a health library with fact sheets on a variety of subjects including FASDs and the risks of drinking during pregnancy.

National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA)
NIAAA supports and conducts biomedical and behavioral research on the causes, consequences, treatment, and prevention of alcoholism and alcohol-related problems. This site has publications and information including the brochure Drinking and Your Pregnancy, which is available both in English and Spanish.

National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)
NIDA supports more than 85% of the world’s research on the health aspects of drug abuse and addiction. NIDA-supported science addresses fundamental and essential questions about drug abuse. This site offers publications, research, training, and resources related to drug abuse and addiction.

National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS)
NOFAS strives to prevent alcohol use during pregnancy through primary prevention, advocacy and support. NOFAS has information and resources for educators, families, and pregnant women. They also maintain a National and State Resource Directory.

Through a partnership with CDC, NOFAS has developed a school-based K-12 FASD Education and Prevention Curriculum for teachers to implement with students.

SAMHSA Store – Publications Ordering System
This is a service of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). It contains links to current alcohol- and drug-related information including publications on FASDs. It also contains research and statistics, as well as online forums and related resources.

Your children may be eligible for free or low-cost health insurance. Every state in the nation has a health insurance program for infants, children and teens. The insurance is available to children in working families.
