Observe N95 day with NIOSH by joining us during lunch time for a webinar focusing on clearing up the myths surrounding N95 respirators. Safety myths can easily form within a working culture. When it comes to N95s, workers may be confused about the purpose of these respirators, how to properly wear them, how to know if they are NIOSH-approved, and so much more. We hope to clear up some of these myths in a simple, approachable way on September 5^th as a NIOSH Personal Protective Technology Laboratory expert presents the facts behind N95 respirator use.

Webinar Presenters

Roland BerryAnn, is the Deputy Director for NIOSH’s National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL). He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1972 from West Virginia University. Before coming to NIOSH in 1993, Roland worked for the U.S. Department of Labor, Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). He began his Federal career as an electrical engineer in 1978, working in various MSHA branches leading to his position as Chief, Intrinsic Safety and Instrumentation Branch in 1993. At NIOSH, Roland served as the Team Leader, Policy Development Team, Respirator Branch, Division of Respiratory Disease Studies (DRDS) in Morgantown, WV, from 1999 through 2002. With the establishment of the National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL) in 2002 Roland transferred to NPPTL, continuing in the same position he had with DRDS. In 2003, Roland was selected as Chief, Respirator Branch, NPPTL, and served in that position until 2006 when he became the Program Manager, Respiratory Protection. In 2007 Roland was named Deputy Director, NPPTL.

Pat Wiltanger has been a Physical Scientist with NIOSH’s National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL) for 12 years. He is currently the acting team lead for the Quality Assurance team and the Quality Manager of the lab. He graduated the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Chemistry and currently takes part in the quality review of certification applications. Mr. Wiltanger has a background as part of the testing team for N95 respirators.

This webinar will be available via live meeting. Registration by September 4, 2013 is required. Space is limited and registrations will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Groups of interested parties from one location are encouraged to dial in as a group. The login information and passcode will be forwarded to registered participants on or before September 4.
