Doffing: Preparing the Doffing Area
As a Trained Observer, it is part of your role to maintain awareness of the situation and anticipate needs. Once you are wearing PPE, you should inspect the doffing area to ensure that an appropriately maintained and not over-filled medical infectious waste container is available. All other equipment necessary for doffing should also be available and in good working order. Also, at this time, determine if you will need a doffing assistant to help safety remove PPE. You will need one if the healthcare worker is using a PAPR or a coverall.
