How to Farm in League of Legends

This wikiHow teaches you how to Farm in League of Legends. Farming (also known as CSing, or Last-Hitting) is a good way to earn extra gold and experience during a match. You receive extra gold in League of Legends by scoring the last hit on enemy champions minions. The team that can farm more during a match will have an edge. Farming is skill that requires good timing. It also takes practice to get good at it.

Steps

Start a new match. Before you can play League of Legend, you must download the app and complete the tutorials. Read "How to Play League of Legends" to learn how to install the app and complete the tutorials. Once you have completed those steps, you can use the following steps to start a new match in League of Legends.
- Click the League of Legends app.
- Sign in with your username and password.
- Click Play in the upper-right corner.
- Select a match type.
- Click Confirm at the bottom.

Position your champion in the lanes. The lanes are the main pathways down the middle and sides of the map. These pathways contain the towers. This is also the pathway that minions take and face off in battle.

Wait for enemy minions to engage in battle. Early in the match, minions will face off against each other somewhere in the middle of the lanes. They may also attack one of your towers. Wait for the opposing teams minions to start attacking your minions or tower. Resist the urge to attack all enemies in your path. Wait for the right moment to attack.

Attack enemy minions when their health gets low. The red bar over the heads of enemies displays their health. When there is just a small sliver of red left in the an enemy minion's health bar, right-click the enemy minion to auto attack. If the enemy health is low enough, your attack should be enough to kill then enemy and score some gold for the last hit attack. If the last hit attack is successful, gold coins will explode from the enemy minion.^{[1]

- Early in the match, minions will be fairly weak. One hit can go along way. As the match progresses, stronger minions start to spawn. Stronger minions take more damage to kill.

Stop and wait for the next attack. After you successfully land the last hit on an enemy minion, stop attacking. You can either press "S" on the keyboard to stop, or right-click a random spot to keep your champion moving. Keep an eye on the health of the rest of the enemy minions. When you see another enemy minion's health start to get low, get in position for the next attack.

Repeat as often as possible. Keep an eye on the health of enemy minions, and move in position to attack when an enemy minion's health starts to get low. The more last hits you can score against enemy minions, the more effective you will be at farming. It often takes precise timing to get the last hit in. The more you practice, the better you will get at farming.

Play the objectives. During the early part of the match, you mostly gain gold from killing minions. As the match progresses, more objectives become available. Objectives include, towers, Baron, and Dragon. These objectives earn gold for your entire team. As you near the end of the match, you should focus less on farming and earning gold and focus more on fighting with your team.
