How to Find the Ruins of Mzulft in Skyrim

The ruins of Mzulft is an ancient Dwemer kingdom found in the gaming world of Skyrim. It's located out on the eastern edge of the map, far south of the city of Windhelm. Mzulft is quite challenging to find, especially if you don't know the roads to take and what to look out for. The ruin plays a major role in the game and finding it is essential in completing the Winterhold quest line.

Finding the Mzulft Ruins through Exploring

Travel to Windhelm. Windhelm is the easternmost city on the map. To get there, simply exit the city of Winterhold and take the road that leads south for a few miles. This will take you directly to the city of Windhelm.

Head east. Once you get to the city of Windhelm, turn east, taking the off road. Keep heading on this direction until you come across a river.
- Cross the river and continue for a few miles. You'll eventually come across a large lodging called the Hollyfrost Farm.

Head south. You'll notice that Hollyfrost Farm is located at the foot of a mountain range. Follow this land formation for a few miles south, and you'll come across a large, ancient stone building built right on the side of this mountain range. This is the Ruins of Mzulft.

Finding the Mzulft through a Quest

Start the “Revealing the Unseen.” It's the fifth quest in the College of Winterhold storyline. After completing the “Good Intentions” quest, talk to a female master wizard named Mirabelle Ervine inside the College of Winterhold.
- Mirabelle will then tell you to go to a ruin called Mzulft to find an item called the Staff of Magnus.

Open your Journal. Press the “Start” button on your controller to open your Journal. Select “Quest” from the list of choices on the journal to view the list of missions you're currently undertaking.

Set “Revealing the Unseen” as your main objective. Scroll down the list and pick out “Revealing the Unseen” from the list by pressing the “Enter” button on your controller. This should set the selected to quest to be your main priority.

Open the map. Press the “Character Menu” button on your controller to open the In-Game options, and select “Map” from the menu screen. You should now see a pointer on the map indicating the exact location of the Mzulft ruins on the eastern edge of the map.
