So, you went out with a guy, had a great time, and you want to see him again. Hopefully, he feels the same way—but how can you know for sure? Have no fear! You can absolutely figure out whether or not a guy wants to see you again. To help you out, we’ve put together a list of clues and signs you can use to find out if he’s interested.

He texts or calls soon after your date.

If he reaches out within the next few days, it’s a good sign. If you went out together and there wasn’t a connection, or he isn’t interested in seeing you again, you likely won’t hear from him. If there was some chemistry and he wants to spend more time with you, he’ll contact you sometime within 1-2 days after your date to start talking to you.^{[1]

- Even if it wasn’t technically a date (i.e. a party, a chance meeting at a bar, a work event, etc.), if a guy wants to see you again, he’ll get in touch with you soon afterward.
- Make sure he has your contact info so he can get in touch!

He tells you that he had fun.

He wouldn’t say it if he didn’t mean it. It’s simple enough for a guy to say that they had a nice time or it was nice to see you, but if he goes far enough to talk about how much he enjoyed himself or how much fun he had, then he isn’t just being polite. It means he liked seeing you and he’d like to do it again.^{[2]

He brings up something funny that happened.

It’s a sign that he really connected with you. If something really funny or memorable happened on your date, he may bring it up afterward as a way to break the ice or talk about how much fun you two had together. If he enjoyed being with you once, he likely wants to see you again.^{[3]

- He could just as easily not bring up something that happened on your date.
- He could say, “Remember when you tried to order gabagool like you were in The Sopranos? That was absolutely hilarious!”
- He might also say, “I’ll never forget spilling the popcorn all over myself. It was my crowning moment.”

He likes your social media posts.

He wants you to know he likes what he sees. If he starts immediately following your profile after your first date, then he definitely wants to find out more about you. Even if he already followed you before your date, if he suddenly starts liking and commenting on your posts, then he may have felt a connection and probably wants to see you again.^{[4]

- If he starts liking some of your old pictures, then you know he’s thinking about you and exploring your profile.

You call and text each other back and forth.

He wouldn’t keep it up if he didn’t want to see you again. It’s one thing to send a few messages here and there after you go out with a guy, but if he keeps the conversation going, then he’s really enjoying talking to you. It probably won’t be long before he brings up getting together again.^{[5]

- If he’s asking you a bunch of questions about your life, then he’s trying to get to know you better. He may really like you.
- Even if you’re just sending funny memes to each other, the point is you’re still talking even after your date!

He’s enthusiastic when he texts you.

Dynamic responses with lots of emojis are a good sign. Most guys will politely respond to you, even if they aren’t interested in seeing you again. But if he’s responding quickly and consistently, using exclamation points, and adding heart or smiley face emojis, then he’s really enjoying talking to you and probably wants to spend more time with you in the near future.^{[6]

- For instance, if you say, “I had a lot of fun the other night” and he texts back, “Me too! That was such a great movie!!” and adds a few emojis, then he really means it.
- Dry, single-word responses are a sign that he’s being nice but really isn’t feeling it. You may want to back off a bit.

He doesn’t pressure you for sex.

He may be trying to get to know you. Whether it’s on your first date or when you’re communicating afterward, if a guy isn’t being pushy or doesn’t seem super focused on just having sex, then it’s probably because he felt a connection and wants to get to know you a little better. How else can he get to know you without seeing you again?^{[7]

- That doesn’t mean he won’t be playful or flirty. But if all he talks about is sex, then that may be all he wants.

He talks about his schedule.

It could mean he’s trying to work you in. If you’re texting or chatting and he starts talking about weekend plans or what he’s got going on Friday night, it’s a good sign that he wants to see you. He may follow up by asking about your plans and then by seeing if you want to get together.^{[8]

- He might say, “Lucky me, I’ve got Saturday night and Sunday afternoon off. First time in a while!”
- If he’s super busy, he may tell you something like, “I’ve got this crazy assignment that’s got me working every day this weekend” he might follow up with, “Maybe when I have a day off we can get together?”

He mentions a second date.

He wouldn’t bring it up if he didn’t want one. If he’s already planning a second date, then he obviously wants to see you again! If you’re interested, just hop in on the date planning and have some fun.^{[9]

- For example, if you’re at dinner, the date is going really well, and he says, “If you like burgers, we should go to the new spot across town for our next date” then all you need to do is say yes if you want!
- He may follow up after your first date and say, “Do you have any ideas for a second date?” then have some fun picking out your next date spot if you’re interested in seeing him again.

He sends you flowers.

He may really be trying to woo you. It may seem a bit old-fashioned, but who doesn’t love getting flowers? If a guy sends you some after your first date, then he definitely is hoping for a second one. Take it as a sign that you’re on his mind!^{[10]

Sometimes a guy will just be direct and upfront about it. He may be a straightforward type of guy and just come out and tell you that he wants to see you again. That’s great! Don’t second-guess it. Just roll with it and see him again if you want.^{[11]
