When you program a crystal, you’ll create a powerful tool for yourself. It doesn't take computer science or advanced magic, either. All you need is a vision and a desire to accomplish your goals. We'll help you out by telling you exactly what "programming" is and why it's important for manifestation. Read to on program any crystal—from amber to zincite!

What does it mean to “program” a crystal?

Programming a crystal attunes it to your heart and desires. Essentially, you "program," or activate, a crystal of your choice when you align it with yourself and your spiritual journey. You can infuse the crystal with your own intentions, which are reflected back to you. When you set an intention and infuse your crystal with it, you can think of this as the "code" the crystal uses. Your crystal will follow the mystical code it's programmed with to operate in the way you've asked it to.^{[1]

What are the benefits of programming crystals?

When you program a crystal, it attracts what you want to manifest. Just pick the right crystal for your intention because they all have different properties. When you set an intention and find a crystal that's aligned with it, you can program your mystical stone to enhance your spells, rituals, and meditations. A programmed crystal uses the "law of attraction" to call in what you've asked for.^{[3]

The Process of Programming Crystals

Purify your crystal to remove any residual energy on it. Choose a method to cleanse your crystal, like burying it in the earth or passing it through the smoke of a burnt smudge stick. Once you complete this ritual, you'll wash away any outside forces that your crystal might've absorbed. That way, it'll be a "clean slate" so only you have influence over it.^{[4]

Hold your crystal to infuse it with your own energy. Warm your chosen stone with your hand—your body heat will send your inner strength and natural magic into the crystal.^{[5]

Bathe your crystal in sunlight or moonlight to heighten its powers. If you'd like to enhance the stone with qualities of the Sun—like generosity or hope—leave it on a windowsill during the daytime for 20 minutes. When you'd like to charge it with traits of the Moon—for example, sensitivity or intuition—set it down in a spot that gets plenty of moonlight for an entire evening.

Visualize how your crystal will help you to give it a purpose. Set your crystal on an altar or clutch it in your hand. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and imagine that you are already living in a reality where you've manifested your desire. For instance, hold your crystal and picture your dream wedding.^{[7]

Declare the purpose of your crystal to fully program it. Announce an intention so your stone gains clarity about exactly what you want. If you say your expectation out loud, then you'll commit to a goal that your crystal will take seriously. You might tell your stone, "I call on your fiery properties to manifest a career I'm passionate about."^{[8]

Whenever inspiration strikes, pick up a stone that's aligned with your affirmation. Say one affirmation as you hold many programmed crystals, or use a single programmed crystal to declare multiple affirmations.^{[10]

Do some type of cleansing ritual first, like washing your crystals with salt, water, moonlight, or sunlight (just keep in mind that the sun can sometimes bleach your crystals). Then, imprint your crystals with the essence of money—for instance, you could put the crystals on a pile of money (or something you associate money and abundance with) and make up your own little chant.
