Know the rules of grammar, and use them. It will make the writing flow so much better, and it makes your story so much easier to understand. Not many people will want to read a story with many grammar errors, even if it's a good story.

Don't fast-forward through the story. If you do not fully examine your themes and ideas, your story will go by too quickly, and people will get bored with what they are reading. Make sure to spread your story out and give it enough space.

Updating in chapters is absolutely not required, but some writers do it to receive feedback, or because they can only write so much in a short span of time.

Warnings

Save your drafts and, if at all possible, back them to a flash drive or to the cloud. If you don't, you're putting your chapter at risk of being wiped.
