The 2023–24 season is the 132nd season in the history of Liverpool Football Club and their sixty-second consecutive season in the top flight of English football. The club are participating in the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and UEFA Europa League.

Virgil van Dijk was appointed as the new club captain after the departure of former captain Jordan Henderson. The Dutchman also became the club’s second non-British and Irish captain after Sami Hyypiä was appointed in the 2001–02 season with Trent Alexander-Arnold replacing James Milner as the vice-captain.

This season is the first since 2010–11 without club captain Jordan Henderson, the first since 2014–15 without James Milner and Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino, the first since 2016–17 without Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and the first since 2017–18 without Naby Keïta and Fabinho.
