It is situated at 9km South from downtown Antananarivo and it is crossed by the National Road 7.[3] 8 suburbs (fokontany) are part of this municipality: Ambohimanala, Andoharanofotsy, Belambanana, Ivoloha, Mahabo, Mahalavolona, Morarano and Volotara.
