Chukam District

Chukam District (Persian: بخش چوکام) is in Khomam County, Gilan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Chukam.[3]

At the 2006 National Census, tbe region's population (as the former Chukam Rural District of the former Khomam District of Rasht County) was 15,772 in 4,388 households.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 14,314 people in 4,572 households.[5] At the latest census in 2016, there were 13,533 inhabitants in 4,576 households.[2]

In August 2019, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Khomam County and divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with Khomam as its capital and only city.[3] In March 2023, the village of Bala Mahalleh-ye Chukam in Chukam District was elevated to the status of a city as Chukam.[6]
