Fordo
Fordo or Fordow[3] (Persian: فردو, Persian pronunciation: [foɾˈdow], [foɾˈdo]) is a village in Fordo Rural District of Fordo District, Kahak County, Qom province, Iran, and serves as capital of the district.[4] It is near the Shia holy city of Qom.[5][6]

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 732 in 230 households, when it was in the former Nofel Loshato District of Qom County.[7] The following census in 2011 counted 667 people in 227 households.[8] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 839 people in 303 households; it was the largest village in its rural district.[2]
After the census, the district was separated from the county and divided into the Central and Fordo Districts, the former including the newly formed Kermejegan Rural District, and the latter containing the new Khaveh Rural District. The city of Kahak was designated the capital of Kahak County.[4]
Fordu, Fordo, Furdu or Fardu a village with more than 100 houses. Headwaters of the Furdu river. Kuhistan subdivision of Qom. Fordo is 26 miles to the south of Qom. Fordo is situated in a deep glen between Hasan Aqa and Furdu peaks. Fordo's sheep are celebrated for their milk.
The village of Fordo is believed to have the largest percentage of fighters killed in the Iran–Iraq War,[9] lasting from September 1980 to August 1988.
In September 2009, it was revealed that Iran had a second uranium enrichment plant near the village of Fordo.[10]
The late Iranian actor and director Fathali Oveisi was born in the village.
