Halušky
Halušky (IPA: [ɦaluʃkɪ], plural in Czech and Slovak; Hungarian: galuska, or nokedli; Ukrainian: галушка, romanized: halushka; Lithuanian: virtinukai) are a traditional variety of thick, soft noodles or dumplings found in many Central and Eastern European cuisines (where they have different local names), particularly in Slovakia,[1][2][3] the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland and Hungary.

Slovaks take pride in bryndzové halušky[4] (halušky with bryndza - a soft sheep cheese); a haluskar for dripping batter into stock to create the noodles is a common kitchen utensil.[5]

The term halušky can refer to the dumplings themselves, or to the complete dish. Typically the dish described is noodles with sauteed cabbage and onions.[7][8]
