Idhayam (2023 TV series)

Idhayam is an Indian-Tamil language television series starring Janani Ashok Kumar and Richard Jose, Directed by Rajkumar.[1] The series revolves around a famous businessman named Adhi who falls in love with a small-town widow woman. It started airing on Zee Tamil from 28 August 2023 on Monday to Saturday at 13:30.[2]

Synopsis

Adhi is famous businessman. On his marriage day, he has a heart attack and is taken to a hospital.[3] He miraculously survives his heart attack after undergoing a heart transplant. His heart is actually from Vasu, a young man from a middle class family and Bharathi's husband, who suffered from brain damage from a motorcycle accident. After receiving a new life thanks to the new heart, he has been and undergoes a profound change to his personality. His heart becomes tender and his eyes swell with tears when he see Bharathi and her daughter Tamizh.[4] He falls in love with her without realizing it. The story is about what happens next in their lives.[5]

Production

Development

On April end 2023, Zee Tamil confirmed through a press release that it would distribute new Tamil serial, to be produced by Rajammal creations.[7] The series shoot began in June 2023 and the first promo was released on 6 August 2023. The show is directed by Thirumathi Hitler fame Rajkumar.

Casting

Malayalam actor Richard Jose was cast as the male lead Adhi, who is a businessman. Janani Ashok Kumar[8] was cast as the female lead, who is an single widow mother.[9] Janani Ashok marking his return after Naam Iruvar Namakku Iruvar 2. Sujatha Panju cast to play Adhi's mother. Puvi was cast to role as Vaasu in cameo.

Release

The first promo was released on 6 August 2023 featuring Janani Ashok Kumar, Richard Jose and Puvi tell the story with song and revealing.[10] The second promo was unveiled on 17 August 2023, featuring protagonist Richard Jose and Janani Ashok Kumar revealing the release date.[11]

It began airing on Zee Tamil starting 28 August 2023,[12][13] replacing 'Kanaa' Time Slot.
