Indira (2022 TV series)

Indira is an 2022 Indian Tamil-language television drama airing on Zee Tamil and is also available on the digital platform ZEE5.[1] Based on Bengali-language Zee Bangla's drama series Aparajita Apu, it tells a story of a Indira, a small-town patriarchial family, Indira faces gender discrimination but resolves to fight it and become an IAS officer to earn respect. Will her determination help her fulfil her dream. It airs Monday to Saturday at 1PM.

It premiered on 21 November 2022 along with 'Kanaa' and produced by Aran Hari under the banner of Spectraa Productions.[2] The series stars Fouziee Hidhayah, Akshay Kamal, Gowtham and Akhila Krishnan.

Synopsis

Indira and Kavya are two sisters, coming from a small town middle-class family. Indira face gender discrimination and fight with society with gender difference. She aspires to achieve her dream and become a successful IAS officer. However, Indira's elder sister Kavya was married Jayalakshmi 's third son Kathir. But Jayalakshmi and Indra fight over marriage and demand dowry. Indira learns it and threatens to call the police. That's why both became enemies.

Soon Indra and Jayalakshmi's last son Gowtham fell in love with each other but got separated due to some misunderstanding. Indira finds out that her sister's husband Kathir is having an affair with another woman.[3][4] To help his sister later due to some unfortunate circumstances they both get married.[5][6]

Indira faces challenges in the form of her conservative mother-in-law, Jayalakshmi and her sister's Ragini. But his husband Gowtham supports and helps her to achieve and fulfill the dreams.

Production

Casting

Fouzil Hidhayah was cast as the female lead Indira by making this her first lead role, who is a young and passionate girl. Akshay Kamal was cast as the male lead Gowtham, who is calm and disciplined man. Premi Venkat cast to play Gowtham's mother. Jeevitha cast to play Indira's sister.[9]

Release

The first promo was released on 25 October featuring the story tell with song revealing in 2 minutes.[10] It began airing on Zee Tamil starting 21 November 2022, replacing Oru Oorla Rendu Rajakumari Time Slot.
